What is a Flu Vaccine?

The vaccine contains inactivated virus (you are not able to get the flu from the jab) that stimulates the immune system to make antibodies. These protect it against the strains of the virus predicted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as the most likely to hit the UK. In addition, this year’s vaccine also provides protection against H1N1 (Swine) Flu.

Vaccines this year have been recommended for pregnant women and those planning to get pregnant.
